Meadow vs. McGinnis
A Clear Choice
Meadow vs. McGinnis
One candidate follows the party line. The other is ready to fight for District 56.
The choice facing voters in House District 56 this November could not be clearer. Tim McGinnis has held this seat since 2018, eight years during which he has run effectively unopposed, with the Republican primary canceled in both 2022 and 2024 and no general election opponent in either cycle. During that time, his signature legislative accomplishment was a bill to fix the unfair water rate disparity that forces county residents to pay double what Conway city customers pay for the same water. He filed that bill in 2019. It died. He filed it again in 2021. It died again. By his own admission on his campaign website, which still references the COVID-19 pandemic as though it were a current event, the bill “did not go anywhere.” Meanwhile, McGinnis voted for a six-week abortion ban in a state with one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the country. He voted for school vouchers that strip funding from the Horry County public schools our children depend on. He voted for a regressive tax restructuring plan that gives families earning $23,000 nothing while handing millionaires a $3,139 tax cut. He voted to lock ratepayers into a fossil fuel gas plant deal lasting until 2070, in a coastal district where the beach is the economy, and carries a lifetime environmental score of just 46% from the Conservation Voters of South Carolina.
Jackee Meadow is running because House District 56 deserves more than a placeholder. She will fight to expand Medicaid for the 11.8% of district residents who have no health insurance. She will defend public schools instead of diverting their funding to unaccountable private voucher programs. She will build the coalitions needed to actually pass a fair water rate bill, not just file one. She will protect the coastal environment that sustains every job, every business, and every family on the Grand Strand.
Tim McGinnis votes the party line. Jackee Meadow will vote for the people of District 56.
